The Bella Twins (born on November 21, 1983) are a female professional wrestling tag team consisting of twin sisters Brie Bella (Brianna Garcia) and Nikki Bella (Nicole Garcia). They are currently working for World Wrestling Entertainment on its SmackDown brand, as well as training in its developmental facility Florida Championship Wrestling.

Early career

Brianna and Nicole were born in San Diego, California and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona in a family of Italian and Mexican descent ^[2]. They played soccer up until college, when they started modeling, acting, and doing promotional work. They have appeared at various trade shows across the country and been featured in several international magazines.^{[citation needed]} They made their first national TV appearance on the Fox reality show Meet My Folks. Following this appearance, Brianna and Nicole were hired to be the World Cup Twins for Budweiser and were photographed holding the World Cup trophy. They then participated in the 2006 "International Body Doubles twins search".^[3]

World Wrestling Entertainment

Florida Championship Wrestling

During the summer of 2007, they were signed to developmental contracts by WWE and assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) in Tampa, Florida. On September 15, 2007 the twins debuted in FCW, dubbed as The Bella Twins. In FCW, they had a series of tag team matches against Nattie Neidhart and Victoria Crawford. As a part of their on-screen character personas, if one of them was hurt, they switched places behind the referee's back.^[4] Starting in December 2007, they began managing Derrick Linkin,^[4] but this storyline was cut short when Linkin was released in January 2008. They then participated in both singles and tag team matches feuding with fellow FCW divas Victoria Crawford, Wesley Holiday, Miss Angela and Roucka.

SmackDown

On the August 29 edition of SmackDown, Brianna debuted as Brie Bella and defeated Victoria. Towards the end of the match, Brie went under the ring and switched with her twin Nicole. Brie continued to go under the ring during her matches in the following few weeks, winning her matches right after. Nicole and Brie made a separate backstage appearance with Primo Colón and Carlito.

On November 7, 2008 edition of SmackDown!, Brie picked up a win against Victoria, and then ran under the ring to escape Natalya and Victoria, but Victoria and Natalya both reached for Brie under the ring, resulting in both Nicole and Brie being pulled out. The twins then attacked them and celebrated afterward. Nicole's name was soon changed to Nikki.
